As the Founder and Director of the Pan-African Citizen Science e-Lab (PACS e-Lab), a platform dedicated to advancing astronomy research, education, and outreach across Africa, including North and Sub-Saharan Africa, I actively engage the public in space science initiatives. My work involves asteroid hunting, deep-space image processing, amateur radio communication with astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS), and research on exoplanets, double stars, and variable stars.
Since PACS e-Lab's inception in December 2020, and through collaborations with institutions such as NASA Exoplanet Watch, Las Cumbres Observatory, the International Astronomical Search Collaboration (IASC), Slooh, and others, I have engaged over 1,000 teachers, students, and space enthusiasts across 50 African countries, an ever-growing network. These efforts are helping to democratize space science and astronomy in Africa.
The Hong Kong Laureate Forum presents a unique opportunity to engage with Shaw Laureates and distinguished scholars in astronomy. I am eager to share my perspective on astronomy research, education, and outreach with like-minded fellows while learning from experts in astronomy and mathematical sciences.
Attending the Forum will not only refine my experiences but also empower me to continue inspiring the next generation of African scientists.

The Pan-African Citizen Science e-Lab (PACS e-Lab) is an online platform that engages the African public in hands-on activities in space science and astronomy, including those in North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. We run five main projects, including exoplanet observations, asteroid searches, deep space image processing, double star research, and ARISS—amateur Radio on the International Space Station.
Since its founding in December 2020, we have engaged over 1,000 individuals across 50 countries in Africa and made numerous contributions to astronomy. These include the discovery of over 50 asteroids, the publication of over 12 scientific papers, and the generation of several photometric light curves of exoplanets. Our platform is the fastest-growing of its kind in Africa.
During the forum, I will elaborate on these efforts and our achievements.
